I am not trash

"I am not trash. I am not an object. I am something valuable and priceless in the eyes of God."

Honestly, I have to remind myself of this almost everyday in my mind and heart. The world that we live in is full of skewed expectations and roles of women. Today, in the twenty-first century, it is arguably the worst we've ever seen. More than half of the music that the industry puts out exploit women as nothing but sexual objects; mere beings that should only be revered for what they can provide sexually (either through sexual acts or through visual stimuli). Most of the female entertainers feed in to this image and more often than not, do not become notably recognized unless they do.

I've also noticed an increase in domestic violence between pregnant women and their partners. Their partners are now willing to kill the mothers of their unborn children AND the fetuses that they carry. Today, there is less respect for the power that we've been given to carry life and there's even less respect for the power that we've been given to be women; carriers of God's feminine energy.  I think this is an increasing issue because women, in general, fail to recognize their worth and thus become dependent on what society says they ought to be to both the world and to our male counterparts.

I learned that the best resolution to this problem is to first fix ourselves and our own self-image. The first step to do this, I believe, is to recognize that we are not just flesh and bone but rather vessels that house a supernatural energy from God. We are vessels of greatness. And once we recognize that, we would no longer need any form of confirmation from society that dictate to us our roles. Indeed as women, our roles in society will be different according to the various belief systems and cultures that we're a part of. However, the difference is recognizing the inner power that we posses and knowing that we are priceless.
